Beyond Epic Episode 2

Here is Episode 2 of "Beyond Epic"

So I think I can make these much faster if I actually sat down and worked on this. I've honestly been enjoying life too much with girlfriend, video games, food, and sleep. I guess I should enjoy it since it may never happen again once I'm employed. Lets hope that happens soon.

Comics and Computers

So, this is my attempt at a comic strip. I'm going to do a few more, see how this pans out, but maybe this'll turn into a regular thing. Tell me what you think.

Aside from that, just applying to jobs. I guess this is how I pass my time job hunting, but I'm happy with it. I cant wait to get my computer parts in the mail though, that'll open a whole new world of 2D and 3D art!

Magical

Hello Again

Sorry about the hiatus, it's been quite hectic since the end of my time at Yale. I've been moving all over the east coast, and then I drove across the country to California to visit my sister! Now I'm applying to jobs and moving around the west coast.

Because of all this movement, it's been a little difficult to sit and make art. That should change soon, at I may have some opportunity with a game company to make some concept art. Not going to say anything yet and jinx it, but I've started to practice to warm up if it does go through. Here's some magical art in a few different styles. Enjoy!

Iron Man and Lighting!

Oh hey, didn't see you there.

Just thought I'd paint every digital-artists favorite shiny subject. I just wanted an exercise to up my digital painting skills, and I think I did. Painting from reference was pretty easy and it was done in about 2 hours. Even though I'm not done with it, I'll share it with you since I'm about to go to sleep. Still gotta do some lighting and rendering passes to get to what I want, but I'll find time tomorrow.

Also, some more Maya practice today. I'll put up a render one day but it's all pretty boring looking. I was just experimenting with occlusions and lighting just to get a better understanding of rendering. Nothing to show for it yet but thought you'd like to know how I use my free time.

Anyways... ART!!!

Squeezing Out Some Art

The little free time I get when not teaching Architecture/ 3D VFX, I try to squeeze in a little artwork. I'm trying to stay sharp but every day I go without drawing I feel like I fall a step behind. At least my 3D skills are still sharp! Problem solving on 4 year old software is quite a challenge, but keeps me actively working on modeling. Once this summer job is over, I'll have enough money to get a massive computer and make some awesome renders! Until then, have some art.

3D Modeling and Architecture

Hey everyone. Its been a busy busy week, but now I've found some time to update you on whats going on.

Teaching high school students is tough, but it's definitely keeping me sharp. In two of my 3D Modeling classes I had a 15-minute demonstration showing the basics of modeling and rendering, and I managed to pull off a few renders below.

This is a crawler I made in 15 minutes demonstrating the use of Maya in creating machinery.
This is a battle hammer I made in 15 minutes demonstrating how Maya can make video game assets.
The whole thing was pretty fun as I gave myself a time constraint and a model requested by students.

I also am working on a quick side project which blends with my architecture class. So far, just a few digital sketches inspired by the old gothic architecture on the Yale campus.

Still trying to find some time to work, and finding work after Yale. Wish me luck.

Another Quick One

Just another quick color sketch I made.

I think I'm getting better. Still trying to develop a style and get more done in less time.
